PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetostrictive torque sensor capable of canceling the effect of the bending moment acting on a rotary shaft regardless of opening of one end of the rotary shaft, and capable of stably and highly accurately detecting the rotational movent regardless of an installation peripheral environment of the magnetostrictive torque sensor. SOLUTION: This magnetostrictive torque sensor has the rotatably supported rotary shaft 21, magnetostrictive materials 3a and 3b arranged on a surface of the rotary shaft 21 and changing in magnetic permeability in response to the size of rotational torque acting on the rotary shaft 21, and at least two or more of detecting means 32 and 34 arranged on the rotary shaft 21 and detecting a change in the magnetic permeability of the magnetostrictive materials 3a and 3b as an electric change.
