A method and a system for reducing mass connection request in CPE(Customer Premises Equipment) are provided to prevent an event from being delivered to an ACS(Auto-Configuration Server) whenever CPE generates request if the event is omittable such that the ACS manages a large number of CPEs. Specific parameter information is provided to set use of CPE protocol which defines communication between a plurality of CPEs and an ACS(Auto-Configuration Server). When the plurality of CPEs generate events, request for connection to the ACS is performed such that a corresponding event among the events is delivered to the ACS through a WAN(Wide Area Network)(S105). The use of CPE protocol is set according to whether a CPEProtocolEnabled value is True or False.
