Shield means are provided for use on data input apparatus. The shield mea ns includes a housing or frame with at least one channel defined therethroug h. The at least one channel has a first end and a second end and is arranged such that a user can view the first channel end in a first position when th e user is looking through the second channel end and the user's line of visi on is substantially parallel with the longitudinal axis of said channel, the reby allowing data and/or data input means associated with or below the firs t channel end to be viewed by the user in the first position. The view of th e first channel end is substantially obscured or shielded from the user in a t least a second position when the user's line of vision is at an acute angl e to said channel longitudinal axis.
