METHOD FOR PREPARING PURIFIED LIPOPEPTIDE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To develop a method for crystallizing or precipitating daptomycin and daptomycin-related lipopeptides, and to provide an improved method for purifying these lipopeptides.

SOLUTION: The invention relates to crystalline or crystal-like lipopeptides including daptomycin which is a lipopeptide antibiotic with potent bactericidal activity against gram-positive bacteria including strains that are resistant to conventional antibiotics, and also relates to a method for purifying the above lipopeptides. Further, there are provided pharmaceutical compositions comprising the purified form of the lipopeptide and methods for using these compositions.
