<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To constitute a composite porous membrane which is highly stiff in spite of a sufficient porosity and further has a small pore diameter. <P>SOLUTION: The composite porous membrane is composed of a porous substrate comprising at any one of a fiber woven fabric, a fiber nonwoven fabric, a porous body of a metal, and a porous body of an inorganic substance and a polymer which constitutes a three-dimensional network structure in the porous substrate. The composite porous membrane can be obtained by impregnating the porous substrate with a solution in which the polymer is dissolved and thereafter coagulating the polymer while stretching it. Desirable examples of the porous substrate and the polymer are a glass fiber nonwoven fabric and polybenzimidazole, respectively. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
