<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of stimulating cytokine production in a cell. <P>SOLUTION: The method relates to the use of a 10 kDa polypeptide, a functionally equivalent molecule or a fragment thereof from Mycobacterium tuberculosis in the prevention and treatment of allergic conditions such as asthma, rhinitis/hay fever, eczema, and anaphylaxis, which conditions are associated with an underlying Th2 cell over-reactivity or cancerous conditions and stimulates the production of immune response mediators, for example, cytokines in vitro or in vivo. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT</p> |
