摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid property detection device capable of removing completely a foreign matter adhering to each surface of a light emitting element and a light receiving element by devising a driving mechanism of a cleaning slider, and thereby keeping each surface of the light emitting element and the light receiving element in the clean state during operation of an engine. SOLUTION: A thermal deformation force of a thermowax 10 is used as a driving force for moving a wiper 7. The thermo-wax 10 is incompressible, and a force at a volume changing time is remarkably greater than a fluid force of a lubricating oil in the case of a conventional liquid property detection device. Hereby, the wiper 7 can be reciprocated in the state where the wiper 7 is allowed to adhere close to an emitting surface 51 and an incident surface 61 when a temperature of the lubricating oil is high and an adhesive force of a foreign matter is weak, to thereby remove surely the foreign matter adhering to the emitting surface 51 and the incident surface 61.
