PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of simply evaluating a skin barrier function by finding a new factor contributing to the skin barrier function, and to provide a method of searching for a material effective for improving the skin barrier function, simply with high likelihood. SOLUTION: An enhancing action of manifestation of an involving factor of lamella granule is used as an index for evaluating a skin barrier function improving action of a test material, and the degree of manifestation of the involving factor is used as an index for evaluating the skin barrier function.
