PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an absolute vale scale of a rotary shape and a linear shape capable of enlarging the occupying area of respective coil patterns (capable of lengthening the length in the radial direction and the length in the width direction of the respective coil patters), without enlarging the whole absolute value scale. SOLUTION: In the rotary-shaped absolute value scale, two rotor side coil patterns 31 and 32 different in a pitch of a rotor are laminated, and two stator side coil patterns 33 and 34 different in a pitch of a stator are also laminated. In the linear-shaped absolute value scale, two slider side coil patterns different in a pitch of a slider are laminated, and two scale side coil patterns different in a pitch of the stator are also laminated.
