PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To minimize clearance between a barrel die and upper and lower dies when pressing the dies and to increase the clearance when a molded lens is taken out after cooling a molding die. SOLUTION: The molding die 1 for glass molding comprises a pair of shaping dies 3, 4 to transfer the shape of facing surfaces 3a, 4a to glass 2 by sandwiching and pressing the heated and softened glass 2 with the facing surfaces 3a, 4a, the cylindrical barrel die 5 mutually guiding a pair of the shaping dies 3, 4 to contacting and separating directions and pressing shafts 6, 7 which are located at opposite end surface sides against the facing surfaces 3a, 4a of the pair of the shaping dies and which move the shaping dies 3, 4 to the contacting and separating directions along the barrel die 5. The inserting distances of the shaping dies 3, 4 in the barrel die are regulated at the end parts in the longitudinal direction of the barrel die 5. The thermal expansion coefficient of the material of the shaping dies 3, 4 is larger than that of the barrel die 5. A spacer made of a material whose thermal expansion coefficient is smaller than that of the barrel die exists between at least one of the shaping dies 3, 4 and the pressing shafts.
