A food preparation apparatus for use in preparing selected foodstuffs into a prepared food product includes a cabinet defining a food storage compartment, a food preparation surface disposed atop the food storage compartment and an open top plenum located adjacent the food preparation surface. A cover is selectively slidably positionable between a first position whereat the cover extends across the open top plenum and a second position whereat the open top plenum is uncovered and the cover is stowed.
