<p>A method for manufacturing a ceramic cutting insert is provided to achieve edge rounding to W, H, and W/H within the tolerance required in a single post-sintering operation of a ceramic insert blank, and to attain the surface treatment for removing a sintered skin. A method for manufacturing a ceramic cutting insert, based on a ceramic oxide, a nitride ceramic or a mixed ceramic material in a process comprising the powder metallurgy steps, includes a step of tumbling the ceramic blank to remove a sintered skin and to provide edge rounding. The powder metallurgy steps consist of providing a ready-to-press ceramic powder, pressing the ready-to-press powder into a compact of desired shape, and sintering the compact into a dense ceramic blank.
