<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a synchromesh automatic transmission capable of regulating a shift fork of a shift stage different from a target shift stage in a neutral position, without being influenced by the movement in the shift direction of shift fingers of an object shift stage, when shifting the target shift stage. <P>SOLUTION: This automatic transmission has lug lock parts 88a to 88c capable of regulating the shift force in the neutral position, separately from a shift select mechanism 67 attaining the target shift stage by being displaced in the shift direction, by engaging the shift fingers 70a to 70c with shift lugs 65a to 65d corresponding to the target shift stage, and regulates the shift fork different from the target shift stage in the neutral position, by engaging with the shift lugs of the shift fork different from the target shift stage, by displacing the lug lock parts by following the movement in the select direction of the shift fingers.
