PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To speed up diagnostic work when link failure occurs in a disk array device connected in series, and to prevent deterioration of access performance of a path wherein the failure does not occur by the diagnostic work. SOLUTION: In this link diagnostic device to a disk array device formed with an FC-AL loop (a first loop) by connecting a plurality of DEs 200 to 500 in series with a plurality of HDDs 230 to 270 connected in series as a unit, the DE has: first port bypass circuits 214 to 218 cutting the respective HDDs from the first loop, and bypassing the first loop; and second port bypass circuits 212, 213 separating the respective DEs from the first loop, and forming a second loop inside the DE.
