PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately detect the detachment or attachment of a lens cap regardless of the shape of the lens cap. SOLUTION: A lens barrel is moved toward a standby position (S3) to wait for detection of switching to "H" of a reference position signal (S4). While it is "L", it is determined whether a PI signal due to driving is detected or not (S5), and the movement amount (PI signal) is counted upon detection (S6). In accordance with the counted number, a driving voltage is switched from a start voltage of 2.0 V to a driving voltage of 2.8 V for cap detection area after a period (8 pulses) and is switched to a stationary voltage of 3.3 V after the completion of the car detection area (after 100 pulses) (S7) to relieve the impact of the interference with the lens barrel when detecting a cap. When no PI signals are detected in S5, a length of time is determined (S8). When the time-out is determined, the movement amount (counted number) is determined (S9). When the movement amount is over the cap detection area, driving of the lens barrel is stopped (S10). When the movement amount is within the cap detection area, cap re-detection operation is performed again (S11). In the cap re-detection operation, driving of the lens barrel is stopped and steps S4 to S9 are repeated for the predetermined number of times from a current position. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
