PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image carrier having such high durability as to form high-quality image over a long period of time, and having a long operating life and high performances, and to provide an image forming method, an image forming apparatus and a process cartridge using the same. SOLUTION: The image carrier is obtained by sequentially disposing on a conductive support (31) a charge generating layer (35) and a charge transport layer (37) (which is also used as a surface layer) or the charge generating layer (35), a charge transport layer (37) and a surface layer (34) located on the surface of the layer 37, wherein each surface layer is a cured resin layer obtained by forming a coating film with a coating liquid containing a trifunctional or higher radical polymerizable compound having no charge transporting structure, a monofunctional or higher radical polymerizable compound having a charge transporting structure and an oxime ester compound, and irradiating the coating layer with light energy.
