PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coating solution for a metal surface which can impart excellent characteristics to the metal surface by treating the metal surface with polyphenylene sulfide, which is an engineering plastic, and to provide a method for manufacturing a surface-treated metal part. SOLUTION: The coating solution for a metal surface is prepared by dissolving 2-30 wt.% of a polyphenylene sulfide oligomer in an organic solvent. The method for manufacturing a surface-treated metal part comprises coating the coating solution for a metal surface on a metal part to adhere the polyphenylene sulfide oligomer to the surface of the metal part and treating the resulting surface at 150-250°C in an oxygen-containing atmosphere.
