PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a one-step method for preparing optically active substituted indenes in a high yield with high selectivity. SOLUTION: The optically active substituted indenes of formula (V) are prepared by reacting anα,β-unsaturated-β-arylcarbonyl compound of formula (I) with an arylboronic acid of formula (II): Ar2-BXmMnin the presence of a palladium complex catalyst of formula (IV): PdYoL1p(Chiraphos)q.
