PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a passenger conveyer operating device capable of efficiently and safely measuring a braking distance. SOLUTION: The passenger conveyer operating device comprises a motor driving a plurality of steps endlessly coupled and a decelerator, an operation controlling device 3 controlling the motor and the decelerator, a monitoring device 4 monitoring the operation controlling device 3, a rotation detector 5 attached to a rotating shaft of the decelerator, and a data input/output device 6 connected to the monitoring device 4. The monitoring device 4 includes a braking distance measuring operation instructing means 4A outputting a braking distance measuring operation instruction to the operation controlling device 3 by the predetermined operation of the data input/output device 6; a braking distance computing means 4D obtaining an output pulse of the rotation detector 5 and an operation state signal of the operation controlling device 3, and measuring the braking distance of the steps from brake starting to stopping; and a braking distance output means outputting the braking distance measured by the braking distance computing means 4D to the data input/output device 6.
