PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To adjust both the upward stopping position of a seat body of a chair and the energization force of a torsion coil spring, and to easily perform the adjustment with the open space in front of a leg pole of the chair. SOLUTION: A seat supporting unit 8 is composed of a pair of brackets 6 whose rear ends are attached to inner side faces of the leg pole 1, a pair of turning brackets 7 whose rear ends are pivotally attached to the front ends of the brackets 6 to support the seat, and torsion coil springs 19 housed in housing parts 18 in the respective brackets 6. The bracket 6 has an adjusting screw 29 threadedly engaged with a female screw hole 28 and a second adjusting screw 49 threadedly engaged with a second female screw hole 47 at an area projecting forward from the leg pole 1. The adjusting screw 29 can press a foot piece 19a at one end of the torsion coil spring 19 in the direction in which the torsion load is heavy, and the second adjusting screw 49 abuts on a stopper pin 41 projecting from the rotary bracket 7 so that the upward stopping position of the seat body can be adjusted.
