<p>A method for examining mobile equipment provided by the exemplary embodiments of the present invention, includes: an equipment identity register EIR receiving a request for examining mobile equipment identity from a network device, which includes: mobile switching center MSC, home location register HLR, authentication center AC or visiting location register VLR, and the mobile equipment identity to be examined requested from the MSC, HLR or AC being the mobile equipment identity MEID or electronic sequence number ESN, and the mobile equipment identity to be examined requested from the VLR being ESN; and the EIR examining the mobile equipment identity according to the MEID or ESN in the mobile equipment identity examination request, and returning the information of the mobile equipment, which comprises the examination result of the EIR. An apparatus for examining mobile equipment is also provided by the exemplary embodiments of the present invention. The validity of the MEID or ESN of the mobile equipment can be examined by EIR through the mobile equipment identity examination request message, so that the network equipment can perform further actions according to the examination result of the EIR, thereby restricting the illegal usage of mobile equipment.</p> |
