RAIN GAUGE AND RAIN GAUGE DATA CALCULATION STORAGE DEVICE

Provided is a rain gauge which can prolong the service life of a battery by reducing the power consumption without significantly lowering the measurement accuracy. An output from the rain gauge (1) is temporarily stored in a data temporary storage unit (21). A sampling cycle modification unit (26) changes the sampling cycle at which a data calculation unit (22) acquires the rain gauge output data stored in the data temporary storage unit (21). The sampling cycle is made longer during a period while the water amount in a measurement water tank (11) is far from the full state and there is no need of increasing the measurement accuracy or when the water amount has become almost full but the water amount does not increase significantly and there is no need of maintaining a high measurement accuracy. The sampling cycle is shortened when the water amount has become almost full and the measurement accuracy should be increased.
