<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic musical instrument capable of creating musical instrument sound of a fine desired generation irrespective of the number of sound source data prepared beforehand, without increasing sound source data. <P>SOLUTION: When a degree of new and old (generation) is indicated, the electronic musical instrument selects a sound source data (a waveform data or a feature parameter) of a predetermined generation, and based on the selected sound source data, a musical sound signal for simulating musical instrument sound of the generation corresponding to the degree is created. For example, a waveform data A of a generation (A.D.1800) nearest to an indicated generation (A.D.1760) is selected (Ws), and based on difference of the indicated generation from the selected waveform data A, an attack characteristic (attack emphasis) of the waveform data A, a decay characteristic (fast attenuation) and a frequency characteristic (EQ high frequency region emphasis) are controlled (Eq, Eg, Vc and Lca).
