PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light emitting device capable of appropriately holding a functional part in a vacuum container with an inexpensive structure. SOLUTION: A cathode electrode 6 and a gate electrode 7 are separately structured by respective plate-like functional parts. A plurality of leg parts 30 composed of elastic inorganic material are fixed to the cathode electrode 6 provided as a unit with the gate electrode 7 and the cathode electrode 6 is held in the vacuum container 5 via the leg parts 30. Thus, it is possible to appropriately hold an electrode unit 3 in the vacuum container 5 by absorbing strain by the leg parts 30 even in the case where the strain is relatively generated between the vacuum container 5 (a glass substrate 10 and the like) and the electrode unit 3 (the cathode electrode 6 and the like) by thermal expansion and the like in vacuum sealing. Hence, an inexpensive soda-lime glass and the like can be used for the glass substrate 10 and the like of the vacuum container 5 and it is possible to further reduce cost for the light emitting device 1.
