PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photoconductor minimizing charge deficient spots. SOLUTION: The photoconductor comprises a substrate, a hole blocking layer, a charge generating layer and a charge transport layer containing at least one kind of benzidine charge transporting material. The hole blocking layer contains chlorinated polymers such as vinylidene chloride and vinyl chloride and fluorinated polymers such as tetrafluoroethylene and trifluoroethylene substantially insoluble in halogenated alkylene such as methylene chloride, and aminosilane.
