PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image-pickup device in which an amount of electrical power consumption can be reduced in at a live view without deteriorating the quality of an original image at photographing. SOLUTION: The image-taking device is equipped with a photoelectric conversion means 101 which converts an optical signal obtained from the outside into an electric signal, a first amplification means 104 which amplifies a first signal obtained by the photoelectric conversion means 101, and a second amplification means 108 which amplifies a second signal amplified by the first amplification means 104 and further a recording means which records an image depending on an optical signal. Furthermore, the image-pickup device includes a first mode at which an image is recorded on a recording means and a second mode at which an image is not recorded on the recording means. The first amplification means 104 has a first gain at the time of setting the first mode and a second gain at the time of setting the second mode.
