PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide optical glass for precision press molding which has prescribed refractive index (nd) and Abbe's number (νd) useful for optical designing, a low yield point (At), high melting property and stability, and high transmissivity. SOLUTION: The optical glass for precision press molding has a glass composition containing, as essential components, SiO<SB>2</SB>, B<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>, La<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>, Gd<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>, Ta<SB>2</SB>O<SB>5</SB>, Li<SB>2</SB>O, ZrO<SB>2</SB>, and TiO<SB>2</SB>each in a predetermined amount, and has optical constants of a refractive index (nd) of 1.86 to 1.92 and an Abbe's number (νd) of 31.0 to 37.0, and a yielding point (At) of ≤645°C.
