<p>PURPOSE:To selectively and industrially obtain the subject compounds useful as a modifying agent for heat resistance, etc., of polyesters, etc., in high yield and purity with easy separation by reacting an acid anhydride with amino- alcohols in a specific solvent. CONSTITUTION:Amino-alcohols (e. g. monomethanolamine or monoisopropanolamine) expressed by formula ((n) is 2-8) are reacted with an acid anhydride (e. g. anhydrotrimellitic acid) using a compound (e.g. methyl cellosolve acetate) having either of ether bond and ester bond in the molecule as a solvent to afford imides having at least one hydroxyl group in the molecule. The reaction is carried out preferably at <=120 deg.C, preferably 60-120 deg.C, more preferably 80-100 deg.C.</p> |
