A step apparatus for a vehicle includes an electric driving source (21), a first transmitting device (29), a second transmitting device (40, 75, 80) and a releasing device (50, 60, 70). The first transmitting device (29) transmits driving force from the electric driving source to a door (2) so as to open and close the door (2). The second transmitting device (40, 75, 80) transmits the driving force from the electric driving source (21) to a step member (4) via the first transmitting device (29) so as to move the step member (4). The releasing device (50, 60, 70) releases a connection between the step member (4) and the second transmitting device (40, 75, 80).
