Removal of swarf e.g., metal dust generated by a vertical cutter wheel 4 projecting partly through a slot 8 cut in the top 2 of a worktable is effected a current of air induced by the rotating wheel through a vertical sided duct 9 beneath the table, the inlet of the duct being the slot 8 and the base 11 thereof running rearwardly from the workpiece end of the slot in the form of a substantially involute curve developed on a circle of diameter equal or slightly greater than that of the wheel 4. Dust-laden air is discharged through an outlet 13 in the base 11 to which is connected a filter bag 15. The wheel 4 has a conventional guard 7.</p> |
