<p>The present invention relates to beads (7) for use in biotechnical applications such as biosensing. The beads (7) comprise at least one magnetic or magnetisable particle (34) and an organic moiety and are freeze-dried. The latter has the advantage that the reactivity of such particles is low, resulting in a longer shelf life. Furthermore, as the beads comprise a magnetic or magnetisable component, this allows accurately providing and positioning of the beads in a biosensor, e.g. by magnetic actuation. The magnetic or magnetisable component furthermore can be used as labels during biosensing. A method of manufacturing the beads, a method for analyzing sample fluid using the beads and a sensor system and method of manufacturing thereof also is disclosed.</p> |
