The method involves controlling a fluid supply of a fluid-subjectable clutch support cylinder by a clutch control valve (6) through a gearbox controlling device. A fluid supply line (4) of the clutch support cylinder is automatically closed in an adjusted neutral position of an automated multi step change speed gearbox. A stop valve (12) controlled by the gearbox control device is arranged in the fluid supply line of the cylinder, where the valve closes the fluid supply line automatically at a neutral position of the gearbox. An independent claim is also included for a control device for an automated multi-step change-speed gearbox.
