The method involves receiving an input signal (E), and modeling the signal with utilization signal model (11) and interfering signal model. (12) An interfering noise portion of the input signal is reduced using the interfering signal model and/or the utilization signal model. Signal statistics of the input signal is detected. The utilization signal model and/or the interfering signal model are changed based on the signal statistics. Data logging of the input signal and/or signal statistics is performed during operation of a hearing device by a data-logging unit (13).
