The communication system comprises: a mobile communication device configurable to communicate using one of a plurality of communication protocols; and a configuration server. The configuration server is adapted to determine the location of the mobile communication device and to configure a service of the mobile communication device based upon the determined location of the mobile communication device. The device location may be determined by the network or by an adjunct system, i.e. GPS. The reconfiguration of the mobile device can occur without the user's input or knowledge, based upon the execution of instructions sent to the mobile device by the reconfiguration server. For example, the mobile device can be reconfigured to use a wireless access point 175, a VOIP interface 185 or wireless hotspot 170. |
