PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatically re-construct optimum system software in accordance with peripheral equipment without the useless consumption of the memory resources of a basic device caused by incorporating the software of useless peripheral equipment. SOLUTION: When new peripheral equipment is detected (Yes in S2), the basic device outputs an identifying information transmitting request to the equipment (S3) and specifies the peripheral equipment from received identifying information and a connecting position (S5). It is inspected whether peripheral equipment is incorporated in system software in the basic device or not (S6) and software for the equipment is obtained from the peripheral equipment or a host device (S7) unless it is incorporated (No in S6). When removed peripheral equipment exists (Yes in S8), software for the equipment is erased (S9), obtained software is incorporated and system software and an application software group are re-constructed unless the removed peripheral equipment exists (No in S8).
