An authentication method and apparatus using an OTP(One Time Password) creating algorithm are provided to allow a user to acquire an OTP number easily without a special device to facilitate user access and improve user convenience. An authentication apparatus using an OTP creating algorithm capable of accessing a security server(200) and an OATH(Open authentication) server(300) includes a terminal(100). The terminal generates a token ID by using a unique key of a security program executed according to connection to the security server to perform initial registration for the OATH server, creates an OTP number in the same manner as the OTP creating manner of the security server and provides the OTP number to a user.
