SUBSTANCE: cyclone has body, inlet and outlet pipes, exhaust pipe which is made in the form of diffuser forming circular channel in conical part of cyclone body. Diffuser is made with central divergence angle of 5-8 deg with expansion ratio of 1.5-2.0. Circular channel width-inlet pipe width ratio is 1.0-1.2. Ratio of reference length of exhaust pipe inside cyclone body to cylinder diameter is 1.15-1.25. Cyclone body is cylindrical-conical- cylindrical in shape. Inlet pipe is installed on cyclone body upper cylindrical part at an angle of 58-62 deg to body axis. Ratio of inlet pipe cross-sectional area to exhaust pipe inlet hole area is 1.0-1.2. Width of inlet pipe is less than the height by a factor of 2.4-2.6, and less than diameter of cyclone body by a factor of 4.0-4.5. Entrance of inlet pipe is made in the form of oblique section with angle of 15-18 deg to body axis. Ratio of length of inlet pipe over middle of external wall to diameter of body is 0.7-0.9. EFFECT: more efficient and reliable in operation cyclone for protection of internal combustion engines of transport facilities with small specific volume as compared with known designs. 4 cl, 2 dwg
