The displacement mechanism for moving the beam (6) between the mowing and transport positions comprises a quadrangle system (11) which is active when the beam is moved between these two positions. The mower (1) comprises a frame (5) for connecting to a vehicle (2), an elongated beam with cutters (7) on its bottom side, and a coupling mechanism for securing the beam to the frame. In the mowing position the beam is positioned immediately above the ground and in the transport position the lower end of the beam is located at some distance above the ground.
