A system and a method for providing contents during a packet call waiting time are provided to effectively use resources of a communication network and maximize utilization of various services by easily providing contents or media streams. An origination mobile terminal(10) requests a packet call for an Internet call and receives the packet call during a packet call setup waiting time period. A reception mobile terminal(12) receives information data from a media stream server through the packet call during the packet call setup waiting time until before a termination response by a reception side user. An SIP(Session Initiation Protocol) server(26) requests a termination response of the packet call from the reception mobile terminal. When there is a termination response from the reception mobile terminal, the SIP server requests stopping of transmission of information data with respect to the origination mobile terminal and the reception mobile terminal. A media stream server transmits the information data to the origination mobile terminal and the reception mobile terminal during the packet call setup waiting time until before the termination response of the reception mobile terminal is made.
