METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR TRANSMITTING/RECEIVING DATA IN THE HETEROGENEOUS COMMUNICATION SYSTEM

A method and a system for transmitting and receiving data in heterogeneous communication systems are provided to enable a terminal to seamlessly transmit and receive data in a heterogeneous communication system by presenting an interworking unit which supports heterogeneous modes. A terminal(400) accesses the first communication system(470) in order to receive the first communication service, and creates a communication path with the first communication system. In case the first communication system is overloaded, the terminal accesses the second communication system(480) through an interworking unit and receives the first communication service from the second communication system. In this case, the terminal, which failed to acquire an IP address from the first communication system as the first communication system is overloaded, acquires an IP address from the second communication system. The terminal accesses the second communication system through the acquired IP address.
