A system for setting the time information of a mobile terminal and a method thereof are provided to receive reference time information from an application server when the mobile terminal requests the application server to provide an application service through an IP(Internet Protocol) network, thereby setting the time information of the mobile terminal regardless of the environment of a mobile communication network. A system for setting the time information of a mobile terminal(110) includes an application server(120) and a DB(130). When the application server receives an application service request message from the mobile terminal, the application server provides reference time information, managed by the application server, to the mobile terminal according to the time information of the mobile terminal included into the received message. The DB is constructed in the inside or the outside of the application server and stores at least one application service data and the reference time information which the application server can refer to.
