PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a drum brake for reducing impact noise when one of one-end parts of a pair of brake shoes is received by an anchor. SOLUTION: The drum brake is provided with abutting recession surfaces 22b and 24b arranged on an end of the pair of brake shoes 22 and 24 and having a radius of curvature R<SB>W</SB>smaller than a radius of curvature R<SB>A</SB>of an outer peripheral surface of the anchor 26 and abutted on the outer peripheral surface of the anchor 26, and thereby, when one of the one-end parts of the pair of brake shoes 22 and 24 is received by the anchor 26, the one of the abutting recession surfaces 22b and 24b generates large frictional force by being friction-contacted with the outer peripheral surface of the anchor 26 in a small abutting area by a difference between the radius of curvature of the abutting recession surface 22b and the radius of curvature of the outer peripheral surface of the anchor 26 in such a manner of sandwiching the outer peripheral surface of the anchor 26, and collision is reduced by friction damping, and therefore, the impact noise can be reduced when one of the one-end parts of the pair of brake shoes 22 and 24 is received by the anchor 26.
