<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide magnetic iron oxide particles having high heat conductivity and heat resistance. <P>SOLUTION: The magnetic iron oxide particles are prepared by forming a coated layer containing silicon and aluminum on the surface of core particles of magnetic iron oxide containing silicon. The particles is characterized in that, when Fe in an amount of 10 wt.% of the whole amount of Fe contained in the particles is dissolved, during the process of dissolving the particles having an octahedron form from the surface thereof, the ratio X of the amount of Fe(II) contained in the dissolved total Fe to an amount of the total Fe (the former/the latter) is within the range expressed by 0.34≤X≤0.50. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
