<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for the alkali saponification of a polymer film, a surface-saponified cellulose ester film and an optical film using the polymer film, capable of suppressing an extraction amount of a hydrophobic substance from the polymer film by an organic solvent, eliminating washing failure in the washing step after saponification treatment step and capable of preventing the deterioration of surface characteristics of the polymer film. <P>SOLUTION: The method for alkali saponification of the polymer film comprises a coating step of applying an aqueous alkali solution to a polymer film, a saponification reaction step of carrying out saponification treatment of the polymer film with an alkali solution applied in the coating step and a reaction stopping step of stopping the saponification reaction step. In the method, hydrophobic component content in saponification treatment liquid after the saponification reaction step is ≤10 mg/m<SP>2</SP>. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
