PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To recover data by retransmitting only data subjected to packet loss without disturbing synchronous communication in data communication using an IEEE 1,394 bus. SOLUTION: A receiving side device 2 detects an error packet in data sent from a transmitting side device 1 and requests the transmitting side device 1 to retransmit a packet which has already been an error packet. The transmitting side device 1 embeds only data requested for retransmission in a bus cycle of synchronous communication as an asynchronous packet and retransmits the bus cycle to the receiving side device 2 to thereby recover the data without disturbing synchronous communication in the synchronous communication using an IEEE 1,394 bus 3.
