A membrane electrode assembly is formed by interposing a solid electrolyte membrane exhibiting ionic conductivity between a fuel electrode catalyst layer capable of oxidizing fuel and an air electrode catalyst layer capable of reducing oxygen. A fuel supply section stores fuel and supplies fuel to the fuel electrode catalyst layer. Oxygen is supplied from outside through an oxygen transportation channel to the air electrode catalyst layer. At a given temperature or higher, a cutoff member blocks the oxygen transportation channel. |
