The method involves measuring a parking place selected for parking a vehicle (2) and establishing an orientation field. The orientation field determines a number of support points within the selected parking place and in the surroundings of the selected parking place. Each support point is assigned a target orientation, where position and adjustment of another vehicle, which is parked relative to the support points of the orientation field, is determined.
