PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To equalize the signal quality of optical signals of multiplexed and demultiplexed wavelengths. SOLUTION: The wavelength multiplex transmission system which has a wavelength multiplexing device 12, a wavelength demultiplexing device 13, and a transmission line 3 connecting the both together is equipped with a plurality of optical elements 14b to 14d which are arrayed mutually in series with the wavelength multiplexing device and multiplex optical signals having wavelengths determined by their own physical characteristics with optical signals inputted from precedent stages and sends the resulting signals out to the following stages. Further, the system is equipped with optical elements 15a to 15d which are arrayed mutually in series with the wavelength demultiplexing device and demultiplex optical signals having wavelengths determined by their own physical characteristics from optical signals inputted from the precedent stages and send the optical signals demultiplexed out to the following stages. Then the array order along the signal path of the optical elements of the respective wavelengths of the wavelength multiplexing device and the array order along the signal path of the light elements of the respective wavelengths of the wavelength demultiplexing devices are set equal to each other. |
