<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multiple wavelength polarization conversion element having a structure capable of arranging LED with the same pitch as the arrangement pitch of a light path separation part and coping with the multiple wavelength. <P>SOLUTION: The multiple wavelength polarization conversion element is provided with "a light path separation part 4 having a function of separating a non-polarized beam into a polarized beam in a first polarization direction and a polarized beam in a second polarization direction which are arranged corresponding to the arranged non-polarized beam and intersect each other at a right angle and a function of transmitting or reflecting the polarized beam corresponding to the wavelength of the non-polarized beam or the polarized beam" and "a polarization direction converting part 3 having a function of converting the polarization direction of the polarized beam". In the arranged light path separation parts 4, the non-polarized beams each having different wavelength (λ1, λ2 and λ3) are made incident on the adjacent light path separation part, are converted multiple wavelength polarized beams having equal polarization through the light path separation part 4 and the polarization direction conversion part 3 and are emitted.
