PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing process of a polyester which has excellent heat stability and color tone. SOLUTION: The manufacturing process of the polyester is characterized in that a phosphorus compound expressed by R<SB>1</SB>O(R<SB>2</SB>O)P-C<SB>6</SB>H<SB>4</SB>-C<SB>6</SB>H<SB>5</SB>or R<SB>3</SB>O(R<SB>4</SB>O)P-C<SB>6</SB>H<SB>4</SB>-C<SB>6</SB>H<SB>4</SB>-P(OR<SB>3</SB>)OR<SB>4</SB>is added in a manufacturing process of a polyester comprising esterifying or ester-exchanging a dicarboxylic acid or its ester-forming derivative and a diol or its ester-forming derivative and polymerizing them in the presence of an antimony catalyst.
